MALISSA REDMOND

MALISSA REDMOND Worship leader, minister, psalmist and recording artist. Malissa Redmond is one of the newest rising stars in the gospel industry. The Brooklyn, NY-native was raised in the Baptist Church where her passion for music was cultivated through numerous opportunities to sing lead vocals, duets with her sisters and direct choirs. In an effort to develop her craft, Malissa accepted the opportunity to be a lead vocalist in a band and starred in two off Broadway plays entitled, “From Crack to Christ” and “Feminine Fire” at the Apollo and Lambs Theatres.

Malissa is currently a praise and worship leader at the Christian Cultural Center whose membership is approximately 26,000 and growing. As an active member of the choir’s traveling team, Malissa has ministered at “Advent Sing” in Vienna, Austria and “The Worlds Sing Gospel” in the Tuscany region of Italy, and in August 2006 she traveled with the step teams “Feminine Fire” and Nubian Gents to Australia. She ministered with recording artists such as; Donnie McClurkin, Don Moen, Ron Kenoly, Joe Pace, Kirk Franklin, Shirley Caesar, CeCe Winans, Fred Hammond, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, Timothy Wright, Kim Burrell, Byron Cage, Percy Bady, Natalie Wilson, Lisa McClendon, Patti Labelle and Ashford & Simpson. Malissa opened up for the “Sisters in the Spirit” tour which included Juanita Bynum, Yolanda Adams, Kelly Price, Sheila E., Martha Munizzi and more. In addition, Malissa sang background vocals for Gladys Knight, and Cheryl “Salt” James, formerly of the group “Salt & Pepa,” on Salt’s gospel album that is soon to be released.

Malissa has appeared on Trinity Broadcast Network, The Maury Povich Show, The Today Show, Bobby Jones Gospel, Gospel Superfest, Queens Public Television, performed at Lincoln Center for the Noel Pointer Foundation and Carnegie Hall. Malissa sang a duet with Gary Anglin, a label mate, entitled, “In the Beauty” on his CD “Gary Anglin & the Voices of CCC.” The anticipated release date for her solo album is the spring 2007. She resides with her husband Derrick and their three children Davon, Dasia, and Dhane in New York.
